In 1955, while still active in the military, he was tasked with managing the Lafayette Hotel in Long Beach which hosted the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant that year. David was lucky enough to strike up a conversation with Miss Indiana, and they officially began dating. Before long, the pair tied the knot and became David and Cecilia Tallichet.
